In a New York Minute

Sometimes you need a good rom com, you know? And this month was definitely one of those months for me. This brought me to In a New York Minute by Kate Spencer. I picked it up while I was walking around the Ripped Bodice in Brooklyn, a book store dedicated to romance books, and the plot sounded fun.

The Plot

In a New York Minute is a good old fashioned meet cute. After losing her job, Franny runs into Hayes on the subway where she’s dealing with a major wardrobe malfunction. As someone who had their coat stuck in the subway door a few years ago, I thought the premise of the story was pretty funny and relatable. Although, I didn’t have a super rich guy offer his Gucci jacket to replace mine…

Their exchange is caught by a fellow subway rider and they become internet sensations, which sparks a series of cute moments, miscommunications, and quickly built up chemistry.

Was the Book Good/Bad?

If you’re looking for a quick read with not a lot of drama, it’s a great read. While it is a pretty simple book, it is entertaining and cute. I didn’t find myself bored or wanting to just skip ahead. So, I would say it was good overall. I wouldn’t recommending rushing out to buy it, but I’d say it’s worth checking out from the library if you’re needing something quick to read.
