Bloody Mary

The Drunken Munkey Bloody Mary

Several people I follow on Instagram have been posting about the Drunken Munkey lately. And after going there, I can see why. The food is top-notch. But we’re not here to talk about how delicious the paneer and prawns were, we’re here to talk about their Bloody Mary.

The Drunken Munkey has two Bloodies on their menu: the Classic and the Drunken Munkey Bloody Mary. I only ordered the Drunken Munkey one, so I can’t speak to the quality of their classic Bloody Mary. According to the menu, the Drunken Munkey Bloody Mary ($12 brunch price; $15 regular price) is a house-made mix that consists of ingredients like cumin, green vodka, chilies, cilantro and lemon. It’s a humble-looking drink, served in a coupe glass with two crispy pieces of okra.

When I took my first sip of the Bloody, I was instantly slapped in the face with cumin. But after a few sips, I didn’t really taste too much except cilantro and tomato. The pieces of okra had no flavor to them but did have a decent crisp.

Key Takeaways:

The Drunken Munkey uses a homemade mix for their Bloody and it includes a nice list of ingredients. If it were properly balanced, it could have had a really enjoyable flavor to it.

The size of this drink was a bit strange to me. Since this was served in a coupe glass, there really wasn’t much cocktail there for $12 (much less for $15). Comparing prices with other restaurants, the cost/drink value was just not there.

Overall, I wouldn’t recommend getting the Drunken Munkey Bloody Mary, but I do highly recommend going there to eat because the food was so good!
