Minnesota Breweries

Minnesota is home to some of the best breweries in the country. Or maybe I’m just biased. Either way, there are plenty of great options to choose from if you ever find yourself in the land of 10,000 lakes. Here is a quick list of some of my favorites that I highly recommend checking out if you’re in the area.

Indeed Brewing – Minneapolis, MN

Every time I’m in Minnesota, I have to go back to Indeed. It’s one of my favorite breweries in all of Minnesota and their beers have so much flavor happening. If you want a flavorful beer, LSD and Pistachio Cream Ale are really fun ones to try. But their other beers are also really great – you can’t go wrong. Plus, they have a lot of space, so you’re almost always able to find a spot.

Bad Weather Brewing – St. Paul, MN

If you’re going to a Wild game, you’re probably pre-gaming at Bad Weather. Not only do they have a nice selection of beers, they also have a bus that takes you to/from the Xcel Energy Center. When I’m there, I typically go for the Pils or Helles, but they have a rice beer that I’ve enjoyed as well!

Ursa Minor Brewing – Duluth, MN

Ursa Minor is one of my favorites to visit when I go to the North Shore. They have a great amount of space, nice pizzas and a good selection of beers. My go-tos there are the sours and the shandy. Undercurrant, Glamping, Agate Hunger and Dairyberry are some of my favorites. But you can’t go wrong with any of their options.

Pryes Brewing – Minneapolis, MN

If you’re a sour fan, you’ll love Pryes. Royal Raspberry and Royal Peach are so delicious. They also have other non-sour beers that are really nice. Plus, they have good food, so you’re able to chill for a bit when you’re here. The last time I went, I also saw they have saunas in front, so you can stay toasty during the cold weather.

Castle Danger – Two Harbors, MN

This one is near and dear to my heart. Castle Danger is a great spot to go to and has plenty of nice outdoor space with some games to play. It’s also near the water, so you have a really nice view. They’re really well known for their Cream Ale, which is really delicious, but I also am a big fan of the Lager Royale, Agate Bay Nut Brown Ale and the Maple Märzen.

Voyageur Brewing – Grand Marais, MN

Another gem from the North Shore is Voyageur Brewing. They have great beers and good food, so it’s a prefect spot to hit after a long hike or camping trip. Swamper Pilsner, Boundary Waters Brunette and the Pie Royale Blueberry Sour are my favorites from them.

Try More at Once

Want to try ’em all (and more)? A great way to really dive into the MN beer scene is going to one of the Beer Dabblers. My favorite is the winter one, but it’s obviously a pretty chilly day so it’s not for the faint of heart. When you go to the Beer Dabbler, you get to try as many beers as you want from all around the state and beyond. It gives you the opportunity to really see what you like/don’t like.

There are plenty of other great breweries to choose from as well. Each time I’m back in MN, I love to try a new one. Hopefully some of these sound exciting to try the next time you’re out and about in the area.
